Between June 2025 and January 2026, Osprey issued 25 notifications to clients - consisting of 9 situation updates, 6 forecast, 5 Squawks, two critical alerts and three standard alerts - highlighting the evolving security situation in the Sahel, including the continued risk of attacks on aviation facilities in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso; Niger's ongoing struggle to combat extremist activity in regions surrounding the Namey; the kidnapping of a pilot in Niamey; the risk of attacks in the wider West African region; and increased use of drones by extremists. The threat of attacks on airports and airbases was also highlighted in Osprey's quarterly report on 5 January, and in an Osprey forecast on 27 January.
